Basag ang Pula zine.

Dear Omel,
Napasulat mo tuloy ako nang tagalog, samok hirap kaayo.

Basag ang Pula zine #1 and #2 - An esoteric, Tagalog written, fury of thoughts, an outlet for the immense disdain towards society and authority the editor feels strongly about. There are some pieces of fiction that are dark and hopeless, tackling the inherent evil side of humanity; escapism, infidelity, amoral violence and a shit ton of disturbing things. There are also some personal compositions mostly having the same themes in them and a feeling of intense self-hate and worthlessness. Handwritten on paper, the layout is semi-sleazy reflecting gritty reality and the hopelessness of it all. An incredibly awesome read, “Power Jakol” Omel’s words paint a pretty bleak picture of the real streets of Metro Manila behind the thin veil of glamour and pretense, he makes you realize as you read through Basag Ang Pula’s pages that dystopia is here in the Philippines and we have been conditioned to live in it with all of its deprivation, terror and oppression. I hope he puts more of his fucked up-ness on paper and xerox it soon…very soon. Power Jakol? Preach on Omel, preach on. The motherfucker should start writing more about music on Cavity Search, a PV-centric zine which he co-writes with his brother bitch Som.

WTI#2: Pedobear Approves

Finally got to xerox up a few copies of this(30 copies, 1st run). Really pleasing to see your shit on paper. Will be brining copies at the "A Dead Scene" show on the 29th. Interviews w/ the metal thrashing militants of Quezon City Paganfire(again), an interrogation with heavy metal dosed thrash metal mongers Ohmsapien from Baler Aurora, Old School DM disciples Pathogen and death-thrashing apocalyptic warriors of Rabies from San Pablo, Laguna. Articles(Pinoe-ers, Pedox3), a show review(ANK comeback) which should've been 2 for this issue and random shit scatter all over. 44 pages, half sized. A4(?)

I could never really write professionally but it sure is fun to do it as an outlet of my uncensored thoughts and opinions, it was a really weird experience reading the foreword I wrote to the 2nd Paganfire interview, I couldn't believe I wrote that piece of shit hahaha. Paganfire's a great fucking band, everyone should hear them. I was really moved that people responded as positively as they did to the first issue, some even gave it an awesome review/mention on their own zines. Without the response and interest from like minded individuals, I never would've had the spirit to do another one so thank you, see you at the shows.

- "WTI, forever sucking.". Watch out for issue numero tres and watch Let The Right One In/Let Me In already you fucking cunts, its been 3 years since I started raving about them. I've got a lot of nuclear fuel to keep me writing this time around so see you..

Busy as fuck in school.

I just recently enrolled as a trainee at the Magsaysay Institute for Hospitality and Culinary Arts since I don't want to go to a proper 4-6 year college. The school's kickass, everyday we cook stuff and there isn't much of lecture type classroom discussions,  more of a hands-on,stand in a kitchen for 10 hours stuff.. It's only been 2 week of  being under some cool-ass chefs and we already got to learn how to make vinaigrettes, fresh pasta and tomato sauce from scratch and do stir fry and cut up random shit in different ways. awesome, for the first time in my life I actually would prefer to go to school than stay home haha. Fucking Christmas break till the 2nd of Jan. Stocks and Sauces next module. Hoping to finish the 2nd issue of the zine this Christmas break.

My camera's still broke pics stolen from coolass batchmates.

New Paganfire recording kicks ass.

So I just got back from listening repeatedly to what has become the highlight of my week. A studio track of a song that first appeared on Paganfire's recent rough promo tape "Lust Possessed" and the work put into it is just insane that its as if its not the same beast anymore. Its heaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavy as fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. I hate to admit it being a super fan of the songs from Paganfire's Roel -Era  but it tops every other studio track done in the past so far.

The purpose of PF recording these stuffs on a more professional level is as of now undisclosed. What do you think eh? Full length? 7"? 12"? more cassette madness? slab of heavy wax? whatever the fuck happens you heard it here first paganmaniaxx!

Rabies - apocalypse agenda ep

I just got a copy of one of my favorite zines I Remember Halloween and read it from front to back like 5 times or something haha. It was so awesome that it jumpstarted my drive in finishing my second issue before the end of the month or something eh, I like rushing things and the game is on. only the reviews are needed to be started on plus what I think of this and that bullshit. I'm thinking of a critical  Punk scene in contrast to the metal scene in the point of view of an outsider article thing, should be fun.

here's the 2nd review I wrote for the issue.

Rabies - Apocalypse Agenda EP
CD-R self-released
(tape available through Hellhouse666 MAL and Metal Throne GRE)

This is the best local release of the year for me bar none, I critiqued their last demo for being badly and thinly produced & not having an edge, well guess what? the production this time around has finally done justice to their live energetic force AND THEN SOME. I cannot stop playing this on a constant state of repeat. Tracks are short, lightning fast and unrelenting, instruments now heard with such clarity while retaining that raw feeling, this is what violence & adrenaline would sound like if captured on audio. What this EP essentially is, are 5 tracks of barbaric, harsh and rough bursts of punk fueled death thrashing frenzy that will wear you down and beat you senseless. I definitely won’t be surprised if crusties and skanking crossover maniacs will like this alot, I know I do.
Its brutal in the same way “Endless Pain” or “The Upcoming Terror” is
and the vocals, the vocals fucking rule man. I mean seriously. fuck. check this out.
5/5

Goblin Warhead rehearsal shit.

Even though we've only been around for a month and a week, more or less.
We tried recording this week's rehearsal using Miguel's laptop since I was forced to return the tape recorder I borrowed a tad bit earlier than expected. So after recording the rehearsal Miguel edited it out and saved it from the huge amount of dirt, noise and feedback on it by mixing the hell out of it. when we first heard it the bass and cymbals was the only thing you could hear, that guy is awesome at balancing stuff out.

This at the moment are the only song's on our constantly expanding setlist. We were so fucking surprised it only clocks in at around 12 minutes and for some strange reason, we played the covers too damn fast hahaha. Goblin Warhead is trying to get a full 45 minute setlist down before the end of the year.

The new songs we're working on have amebix and hellhammer touches on them.

I'll file this one on the shameless self promotion tag. lol
Jacob - Guitars/Vocals
Miguel - Drums/Vocals
Carlos - Bass/Vocals

p.s.
The wimpy high pitched screams on the recordings are mine :P
